  Inattentive elders...anyone else experience this?

  everyone always talks about the elders and people in the congregation coming around to see why you aren't at meetings...but i've never experienced this.

  i've been away from the meetings for months, and not one single elder has called me.

  my friends occasionally call me but never bring up my lackluster attendance.

  I pioneered for years, and just severed service and meetings with no notice....that was a year or so ago, I haven't had any contact, and they know where I am.

  i went through my 10 year stay in the truth not knowing a whole lot about any of the teachings i realize.

  i knew of them, knew the rules cause i read them all the time in the km,wt,awake....but i couldn't explain most of my beliefs with the bible.

  i entered the faith at 13 years old, on my own and guess what at 13 years old with no parents pressuring me i really didn't like studying.

  You know...that is a good point. I think I will take that out of my wallet right now. Surgery I can decide....in an emergency I would prefer an alternative, but I wouldn't know how to express that.

  here's the scenario: you buy an item and it's on sale for 10% off the original price.

  a new cashier charges you, instead of 10% off, 10 cents!

  this happened to a woman who bought a leather coat among other things and when she reviewed her slip she knew absolutely that the new cashier messed up.

  I would undoubtedly repair the error. I have a phobia of lying as it creates problems later on in a dreaded chain reaction.

  i'm not a big fan of surgery.

  i always exhaust all non-surgical options before doing it.

  i know enough about medicine to know that surgery is effectively a controlled injury... and that makes me nervous.

  Ouch, that sounds painful. It will be worth it though.
  
  Buy a hand held video game system (nintendo DS). It will help your recovery as next to, painkillers, it is the best pain distraction.

  here's my take for one of the reasons: jw's perceive anyone who asks the wrong questions as a hater of jehovah and a persecuter.

  I agree with that point. I would talk about wonderful, intelligent people that I know and then at the end a family member would ask "are they smart enough to worship Jehovah?". It made me pretty sad.
  
  I like all people no matter what. Unless one is to be the biggest jerk on the planet, I will be reasonable to them. I saw no religion lines when I was in the church and it drove my parents nuts when I was growing up.

  Help ! Two of my boys (13 and 10) want to become publisher

  i know this day would have arrived , sooner or later.. .

  i'm inactive from 1 year now, and i go to the meeting just sometime on the sunday.. but my wife is in a very well standing , and the kids are following her at meeting and service field.. .

  yesteray evening my wife told me that my 2 boys asked the elder to become publisher.. they are 13 and 10 age.. the elder was very polite , and ask my wife to have my opinion regarding this.. i'm going to talk the oldest boy (not taking in consideration the 10 yrs old one).. i would like not to be so drastic and not offend him, but i have to start some point to tell him some truth regarding this organization .. any suggestion ?.

  - try to fight it, which if you don't do right will trigger their persecution complex and drive them straight towards it
  
  - fully support them, even encourage them, even make them go out when they don't want it, and hope that they realise how dull it is and grow out of it.
  
  I think you should consider #2. You're going to have to play a complex game either way. You're better off if you're not the bad guy. "
  
  This. If you fight it, they will be made heroes as children fighting oppression, and they will be encouraged to do it more. If you are passive, they will figure it out on their own.
  
  What you can do is go to each child, ask them their thoughts, and tell them that they should do what they feel is right. If you like you can get into a discussion on responsibility, but it is up to your discretion.

  Who thinks Cannabis/Marihuana should be legalised?

  i think in most countries it is illegal to use this drug, so do you think it should be decriminalised, legalised & taxed, made legal for the medical proffesion or should it remain completely illegal?

  I agree booze is much worse than weed. In the area I live in you can carry up to 2oz without getting arrested. So It is not legal, but tolerated.
  
  It is good for chronic pain, works better than codeine, naprox or higher level medications, and for those of us on nauseating medical treatment it keeps you from puking to death, and brings your appetite back.

  it's great that you have obviously been able to get out without being harmed in some way - really, i'm happy for you.

  My thread was NOT a "just get over it thread". It takes different kinds of people different amount of time to adapt to the change. In religious situations, many people act irrationally towards those who reject their beliefs.
  
  The point of my thread was introductory. It would be presumptuous for me to come into a forum I never posted in and tell it's members to get over it. That was not my intention at all and assumptions based off of my poor communication skills should not be that I am telling anyone to fell. think, or do, anything.
  
  On a regular basis, I make an effort to not use words like "you" and try to add words like "some" as much as possible in order to not generalize. I have social anxiety issues where I like to over clarify myself, and I don't like to put people in a position where they have to clarify.
  
  We are all equal working together to work out issues or passively make commentary that will unexpectedly assist others in developing knowledge.
  
  Just because my thread struck a nerve should not mean that I should be made a poster child for "just get over it", especially since that was not the intention. If I wanted to say it I would post a thread with that title and be much more aggressive.
  
  I was posting mt experience and posting my thought pattern as a way of introduction, simply that.
  
  
  Edit: as a side point I am not ignorant to the plight of the disfellowshipped, as I have mentioned before, several of my family members have been and have suffered depression, anxiety, suicide attempts, chronic relationship failure (paranoia induced), sexual dysfunction, and other mental/emotional issues. I have yet to experience the worst, which will be when I get married, as my parents will then be sure I am not returning (they still think I'll one day turn around).

  Windows live spaces and other photo sites are awesome to post pictures of yourself as well! Especially if you're a smashed flat out obvious in a photograph drunk.
  
  I sometimes see drunk party pictures in the same reel as convention ones...they could at the LEAST make it friends only.
  
  I don't understand the reasoning for declaring faith online like that, it seems to invite things that they find undesirable....unless they need more hours, that might be a reason.
